Blade shape and feel

The Serpent's asymmetric Euro blade measures 670 cm² (47.5 cm × 18 cm) — the same large-blade format as the Ultimax K-PRO, but here paired with a bent shaft rather than a straight one. This combination delivers a powerful, high-catch stroke with the ergonomic wrist alignment that reduces rotational stress through the power phase. The Toray 3D Hex Carbon Fiber S700SC layup gives the blade a stiff, direct feel with excellent energy transfer, while the Etha-lite Foam Core keeps it buoyant and responsive. The Hydrophobic Nano Coating sheds water cleanly on every exit, and the Nano-Coated Ergonomic Grip ensures a secure hold in cold or wet conditions.

Construction and weight

Built from Toray 3D Hex Carbon Fiber S700SC over an Etha-lite Foam Core, with a Full Kevlar Strap Edge protecting the blade perimeter from impact and abrasion. The Vector Smart System provides precise, tool-free feathering adjustment — particularly useful in open-water conditions where wind angle changes throughout the day. Weight: 874 g (208–218 cm) and 896 g (214–224 cm).

Length and sizing

Available in 208–218 cm (874 g) and 214–224 cm (896 g). The larger blade suits a high-angle stroke, so most paddlers will find the shorter range sufficient unless they are tall or paddling a particularly wide hull. The bent shaft geometry shifts wrist alignment compared to a straight shaft — paddlers new to bent shaft paddles typically adapt within one or two sessions and notice reduced forearm fatigue almost immediately. The 29 mm shaft diameter suits most hand sizes.

The Serpent is built for sea kayaking, open-water touring, and high-mileage coastal paddling where both power and joint longevity matter. It is the natural choice for paddlers who want the output of a large blade but have found straight-shaft paddles hard on their wrists over long days. FAQs

Segla gear materials are incredibly light, does that mean it's fragile?

The weight comes from the materials and engineering, not from cutting corners. Toray carbon fiber, Kevlar-reinforced edges, and an Etha-lite foam core make these paddles exceptionally light AND strong enough for all paddling conditions.

What's the difference between a Greenland paddle and a regular paddle?

A Greenland paddle has a long, narrow blade that enters the water gradually and quietly. There's no sudden resistance, the load builds progressively with every stroke. Most paddlers feel less shoulder and wrist fatigue within the first hour, especially on longer trips.

How do I know which length is right for me?

It depends on your height and your kayak's width. As a general rule: wider boat = longer paddle. For Greenland paddles, most paddlers find their fit between 220–225cm. Our Euroblade Carbon K-Pro models come in two adjustable ranges, 208–218cm and 214–224cm, covering virtually every paddler.
