Blade shape and feel

The Ultimax runs a large asymmetric Euro blade at 670 cm², measuring 47.5 cm × 18 cm — noticeably wider than the touring-oriented Ashika and Taikiu. This extra surface area translates directly into a more aggressive catch and greater power per stroke, making it the blade of choice when acceleration matters more than cadence efficiency. The blade loads quickly and firmly, with the Toray 3D Carbon Fiber S700SC layup providing a stiff, direct feel that wastes nothing between catch and exit. The Etha-lite Foam Core keeps the blade buoyant and lively in the water, and the Hydrophobic Nano Coating sheds water cleanly on every stroke. The Nano-Coated Ergonomic Grip on the straight shaft gives you a secure, confident hold even in cold or turbulent water.

Construction and weight

Built from Toray 3D Carbon Fiber S700SC over an Etha-lite Foam Core, with a Full Kevlar Strap Edge reinforcing the blade perimeter against rock strikes and impact damage. The Vector Smart System allows precise, tool-free feathering adjustment — useful for dialling in your angle in headwind conditions or switching between sprint and touring use. Weight: 746 g (208–218 cm) and 796 g (214–224 cm).

Length and sizing

Available in two adjustable ranges: 208–218 cm (746 g) and 214–224 cm (796 g). The shorter range suits most paddlers in narrower sea kayaks or sprint boats using a high-angle stroke; the longer range suits taller paddlers or those in wider hulls. The large blade rewards a powerful, high-angle technique — if you're used to a touring cadence, expect to feel the difference in blade resistance immediately. The 29 mm shaft diameter suits most hand sizes.

The Ultimax is built for sprint paddling, whitewater, and high-intensity sea kayaking where power and acceleration take priority. It excels in tidal races, surf launches, downwind runs, and any situation where you need to move the boat fast. FAQs

Segla gear materials are incredibly light, does that mean it's fragile?

The weight comes from the materials and engineering, not from cutting corners. Toray carbon fiber, Kevlar-reinforced edges, and an Etha-lite foam core make these paddles exceptionally light AND strong enough for all paddling conditions.

What's the difference between a Greenland paddle and a regular paddle?

A Greenland paddle has a long, narrow blade that enters the water gradually and quietly. There's no sudden resistance, the load builds progressively with every stroke. Most paddlers feel less shoulder and wrist fatigue within the first hour, especially on longer trips.

How do I know which length is right for me?

It depends on your height and your kayak's width. As a general rule: wider boat = longer paddle. For Greenland paddles, most paddlers find their fit between 220–225cm. Our Euroblade Carbon K-Pro models come in two adjustable ranges, 208–218cm and 214–224cm, covering virtually every paddler.
